Annual reports and impact reports for nonprofits

A nonprofit annual report is read by the people who decide whether to give again: donors, CSR committees, foundations and board members. They look for three things: what changed because of the money, a story they can retell, and figures that are easy to trust.

We design annual reports and impact reports for nonprofits, NGOs and charities from the Word draft and photographs you already have: impact numbers drawn as clear charts, the stories given full pages, and the financial summary set so anyone can read it. Every report comes as a print PDF and a web edition you can send to donors as one link.

What a nonprofit annual report should include

  • A letter that says what changed

From the chair or director: the year's result in a few sentences, not a list of activities.

  • The year in numbers

Five to eight figures that show reach and outcome, each with its unit and period.

  • Stories

Two to four people or places, with photographs, so a donor can retell the work.

  • Programmes

What each programme did, where, and with whom.

  • Money

Where funds came from and where they went, as a simple chart, with the audited statements or a link to them.

  • Thanks and governance

Donors, partners, the board, registration details and how to give.

Impact report or annual report?

An impact report is shorter and outward-facing: outcomes and stories for donors, often 12–16 pages. An annual report covers the whole organisation for the year, including governance and finances, usually 24 pages or more. Many nonprofits make one document that does both; we help you decide which you need.

For NGOs in India

Indian NGOs report to CSR committees, foundations and individual donors, who expect outcome figures, photographs from the field and registration details on the page. We design in English, Hindi or Marathi, and the light PDF and web edition travel on WhatsApp. Quoted in rupees: from ₹12,000 for an impact report and ₹20,000 for a 24–32 page annual report.

For nonprofits in the US and charities in the UK

This is the donor report, the one you send to supporters and post on your website. It is not the IRS Form 990, a state annual report filing or the Charity Commission annual return; those are filings your accountant handles. Where a UK charity wants its trustees' annual report and accounts designed, we lay out the text and statements you supply exactly as approved.

Quoted and invoiced in US dollars: from US$399 for an impact report and US$749 for a 24–32 page annual report.

Closest samples

Studio specimens, not client work. Panghat Foundation is a full 16-page NGO annual report and Nuajibana Trust an 8-page impact report (both fictional, with sample figures); Kaveri Softworks is an annual report cover. All our work.

Web edition

The same issue can also be delivered as a web edition: an interactive digital magazine with text that fits any phone, video and links that work, and a reader report of opens, reading depth and time spent. One link to share by email or WhatsApp.

Web edition included with this format.

Issue launch kit

The posts that launch your issue, made from it and in its design, in your name and your voice: a cover reveal for the feed and stories, a LinkedIn carousel of the main idea, quote cards, a chart card and a note for WhatsApp, each with a suggested caption. Nothing on them mentions us.

Issue launch kit: about 10 pieces, US$99 (₹6,000 in India) per issue.

  • Cover reveal post: her portrait, her name, the Jharokha cover and Issue 01 is out
  • First LinkedIn carousel slide: Quiet is expensive, with her name
  • Quote card with her black-and-white portrait and a line from her essay
  • WhatsApp card: a note from her with the cover, reply for the link

Questions we get asked

What should a nonprofit annual report include?
A short letter on what changed, five to eight key figures, two to four stories with photographs, what each programme did, a simple chart of income and spending, thanks to donors and partners, and how to give. The audited statements can be included or linked.
How long should a nonprofit annual report be?
An impact report is usually 12–16 pages; a full annual report 24–32. A small organisation is better served by 16 strong pages than 40 thin ones.
What is the difference between an impact report and an annual report?
An impact report shows donors the outcomes of their giving and is shorter. An annual report covers the whole organisation for the year, including governance and finances. Many nonprofits combine the two.
Can you make it from our Word draft?
Yes, that is how most reports start: a Word document, a spreadsheet of figures and a folder of photographs. We edit for length, rewrite headings and captions, redraw the charts and tell you what is missing. We do not write the report from scratch or verify the figures.
Do you offer nonprofit pricing?
Our prices are the same fixed list for every client, already about half of US and UK agency rates: from US$399 for a 12–16 page impact report and US$749 for 24–32 pages (₹12,000 and ₹20,000 in India). The price is fixed in writing before work starts.
Is this the IRS Form 990 or a state annual report?
No. Those are legal filings prepared by your accountant or registered agent. This is the designed report you send to donors and supporters.
