Souvenir and programme design

Souvenir (smarika) and event programme design

A souvenir, or smarika, is published for an occasion: a silver or golden jubilee, a festival, a conference, a temple consecration, a tournament. It carries the messages of the dignitaries, the history of the organisation, the programme, the committee and the sponsors' advertisements, and it has a deadline that cannot move: the day of the event.

An event programme is its shorter cousin: the schedule, the speakers or performers, the venue and the sponsors, held in the hand on the day. We design both from the material your committee collects, in English, Marathi or Hindi, as print-ready files and a light copy to share on WhatsApp.

Event, festival and conference programmes

A conference programme needs the agenda by day, session and room, speaker biographies, a venue map and the sponsors; a festival or concert programme needs the performers and the order of the evening. We design for conferences and festivals in India and abroad; outside India we quote and invoice in US dollars.

Marathi, Hindi and English smarika

Most smarika in Maharashtra and North India mix Marathi or Hindi with English. We set Devanagari with proper fonts so conjuncts and matras render correctly, and keep both languages in one consistent design. Send the text as typed files; we do not translate.

Working to the event date

Tell us the event date first. We plan back from it, reserve the advertisement slots, and lay out the pages that are ready while late messages arrive. The first full proof follows within 10 working days of the material being complete.

Issue launch kit

The posts that launch your issue, made from it and in its design, in your name and your voice: a cover reveal for the feed and stories, a LinkedIn carousel of the main idea, quote cards, a chart card and a note for WhatsApp, each with a suggested caption. Nothing on them mentions us.

Issue launch kit: about 10 pieces, US$99 (₹6,000 in India) per issue.

  • Cover reveal post: her portrait, her name, the Jharokha cover and Issue 01 is out
  • First LinkedIn carousel slide: Quiet is expensive, with her name
  • Quote card with her black-and-white portrait and a line from her essay
  • WhatsApp card: a note from her with the cover, reply for the link

Questions we get asked

What is a smarika?
A smarika is a souvenir publication brought out for an occasion: a jubilee, festival, conference or consecration. It usually carries messages, history, the programme, the committee and sponsors' advertisements.
How many pages should a souvenir be?
A programme is 4–12 pages; most souvenirs run 24–32 pages; a jubilee souvenir with many messages and advertisements can reach 60. Advertisements usually decide the length.
Can sponsors' advertisements be included?
Yes. Send the artwork and the agreed sizes and we place each one where it was promised. We flag any artwork too low in resolution to print.
Can the souvenir be in Marathi or Hindi?
Yes, or in a mix with English. We set Devanagari with proper fonts. Send typed text; we do not translate.
How much does souvenir design cost?
An event programme of 4–12 pages starts at US$149 (₹4,000 in India); a 24–32 page souvenir at US$749 (₹20,000 in India). Every price is fixed in a written quote.
Can members receive it on WhatsApp?
Yes. Every souvenir comes with a light PDF, and a web edition (one link that opens on any phone) can be added; it is included on souvenirs of 24 pages and more.
