Jharokha, the letter

Letter No. 2, Monsoon

The monthly letter that sits between issues of Jharokha, in the same masthead, type and colours on a warm shell ground. Rukmini Sethna, Sethna House and every figure are fictional.

It shows what a client gets on our personal branding retainer: one design system for a quarterly magazine and a short monthly letter, plus an email version of the letter for a newsletter tool.

Decisions

  • The quarterly's masthead, lighter

Jharokha in claret with 'the letter' in her script beside it, on a softer ground than the magazine.

  • A season, not a date

Letter No. 2, Monsoon: a newsletter that reads as part of the year rather than a dated bulletin.

  • One chart

Moisture in the timber store month by month, with the line below which wood is polished, labelled sample figures.

  • Readers answered

Four questions from a client, an architect, a hotel owner and a reader, answered in her voice.
