Every legacy and alumni project runs into the same wall: a handful of superb archive images, a great many mediocre ones, and no possibility of reshooting any of them.
The honest answer is a set of rules: which images can be rescued, which should run small, and how a decade with almost no surviving photography can still be given a spread worth reading.

Decisions
Images sized to what they can carry
Resolution decides scale. A sharp 1968 print runs full page; a soft 1970s scan runs at a quarter and gains from the restraint rather than being enlarged into mush.
Typography carries the thin decades
Where photography does not exist, the spread is built on pull quotes, documents and dates set at scale — rather than padding the page with stock imagery.
A consistent restoration pass
Dust, colour cast and contrast corrected to a single standard across ninety years, so the issue reads as one book rather than nine scrapbooks.
